REFLECTIONS FROM THE DOME
Reflections will feature excerpts from books with stories and memoirs about Notre Dame.

Gwynn Wilson, the graduate manager of the USC football team, proposed a series between the Trojans and Notre Dame. In November, 1925, he traveled to meet Knute Rockne, and discussed the idea. The following is the fascinating story of how this great rivalry began.

We also give an account of the first Notre Dame - USC game described by Rockne as "The greatest game I ever saw." Both these accounts are from Cameron Applegate's excellent book on the series call "The Game Is On."

OUT OF BOUNDS

Irish Legends will feature monthly excerpts from Out of Bounds, the anecdotal history of Notre Dame football. They are reprinted here with the permission of authors Larry Weaver and Mike Bonifer.

CAMPUS LIFE
Campus Life will feature inspirational stories from the past and present about the spirit of the Notre Dame community.

This excerpt is taken from Thomas Stritch's book, "My Notre Dame: Memories and Reflections of Sixty Years." Mr. Stritch is a Professor Emeritus of American Studies at Notre Dame, and in his epilogue gives a delightful tour of the campus, describing his favorite trees, buildings, lakes and other special places.
